San Bernardino, California – A tragic accident on Phelan Road resulted in the deaths of both drivers. Around 8:15 pm on April 14, 2024, the fatal crash occurred just east of Tumbleweed Road. The accident involved a 2018 white GMC Yukon and a 2015 blue Subaru Forester.
A 38-year-old woman from Oak Hills was traveling eastbound on Phelan Road in the GMC. On the other hand, a 27-year-old man from Phelan was traveling westbound in the Subaru.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the GMC Yukon veered left from the eastbound lane, crossing the left-turn lane into the westbound lane, leading to the fatal encounter with the Subaru.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the accident scene and unfortunately pronounced the driver of the Subaru dead at the scene. Additionally, firefighters performed rescue operations to free the woman who was trapped behind the wheel of the GMC.
They subsequently requested helicopter intervention to land on the road and transport her to the hospital.
Despite efforts to save her life, the woman airlifted due to her severe injuries was also pronounced dead at the hospital. Furthermore, a passenger in the SUV sustained critical injuries and was urgently taken to a medical center. Eyewitnesses described the passenger as a young girl, aged between 3 and 5 years old.
As of now, no updates have been provided on her condition.
