Over 50 Injured in Light Rail and Bus Collision

Los Angeles, California – A dramatic accident occurred on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, near Exposition Park, close to the USC campus, leaving at least 55 people injured. The incident occurred when a light rail train belonging to the Los Angeles Metro’s E Line collided with a University of Southern California transportation bus.

The collision took place around 11:54 a.m. at a grade crossing located at 901 W. Exposition Boulevard. Los Angeles city firefighters quickly responded to the accident report. Of the 55 affected individuals, 37 received medical attention on-site and were subsequently discharged. 

However, 18 individuals required transportation to nearby hospitals due to the severity of their injuries.

Two of the injured, the bus driver and a passenger, are in critical condition, further exacerbating the situation.

Following the light rail and bus collision, service on the Metro’s E Line was disrupted and partially restored around 1:30 p.m., operating on a single track through the accident area. Meanwhile, relevant authorities, led by the Los Angeles Police Department, have launched a thorough investigation to determine the causes and liabilities of the crash.
