Illegal Caravans in Oakland: Negligence and Risk of Accidents

Oakland, California – On Sunday, April 21, 2024, approximately 50 ATVs and off-road motorcycles were observed participating in illegal caravans in Oakland, as reported by the Oakland Police Department.

The Oakland Police Department received notifications about the presence of dozens of motorcycles in the area of Bellevue and Grand Avenues shortly after 1:15 p.m. on Sunday. Subsequently, the circulation of at least 50 motorcycles and ATVs around Lake Merritt was reported, with ATVs driving on the sidewalk and against traffic.

In response to this situation, around 1:45 p.m., the OPD was informed of the presence of another 50 motorcycles in the area of 73rd Avenue and International Boulevard. Additional officers were deployed to contain the activity of the caravans and ensure public safety.
