Los Angeles, California – In a jaw-dropping tale of survival, Cordell Patrick, the former sports commentator for ESPN, faced a perilous accident this week while returning from a camping trip with his wife to their home in Valencia, California.
As they were traveling on State Route 14, Patrick revealed to several Los Angeles television stations the chilling details of the accident. His wife was behind the wheel of the recreational vehicle when, suddenly, she had to step away to use the bathroom.
“It was a blur. It was insane. I don’t know how I’m alive,” shared Patrick.
Patrick, in a moment of distraction, unbuckled his seatbelt for just five seconds. It was then that he noticed his wife had fallen asleep. The situation became critical as the vehicle headed towards the median. Despite his desperate attempts to regain control, the impact was inevitable.
The impact ejected Patrick through the driver’s side window, catapulting him over the median wall. Dashcam footage from another vehicle captured the moment Patrick landed on the other side of the freeway, narrowly avoiding being hit by a passing car as he soared over the highway barrier.
