Walnut Grove, California – A head-on collision on Interstate 5 (I-5) resulted in the death of a woman driving in the wrong direction. The CHP received reports of a vehicle traveling the wrong way on I-5, specifically south of Walnut Grove Road near Thornton, around 4:40 p.m. Minutes later, a head-on collision was reported in the same area.
Officer Ángel Arseo, a spokesperson for the CHP, reported that a woman was driving a Ford F-150 northbound on I-5 when she crossed the central median into the southbound lanes. She struck a large truck in her path, causing her vehicle to collide head-on with a brown Ford F-150.
The woman died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the brown Ford F-150 sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, the driver of the large truck suffered only minor injuries.
At this time, it is unclear whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident. The CHP continues investigating the circumstances that led to this tragic event.
