Eight Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Sylmar

Los Angeles, California – A horrific multi-vehicle crash in Sylmar left eight people injured, two of them seriously. The incident, which occurred in the 14900 block of West Hubbard Street, was reported shortly before 3 p.m., according to an alert from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).

Aerial images captured by Sky5 showed at least four vehicles involved in the accident, all with significant damage. One of the vehicles even ended up overturned on its roof. Initially, firefighters reported that nine people had been injured, but after an update, the number was adjusted to eight. Of these, two people declined to be transported to local hospitals.

Of the six people who were transported to hospitals, two were adults in serious condition. The other four injured were children between the ages of 6 and 12, who sustained minor injuries. Despite the severity of the crash, the LAFD emphasized that the consequences could have been much worse.

The LAFD noted that although seat belts were used, some children were not properly secured. “Car seats were not used, and at least two children were sharing a seat belt,” they stated in a release. Fortunately, none of the passengers were ejected from the vehicles, which helped prevent more serious injuries.

This incident highlights the importance of properly using child restraint systems and seat belts. Child safety seats are designed to protect young passengers in the event of an accident, and their proper use is crucial for minimizing risks.

Traffic accidents can happen at any time and place, and it is vital to take all possible precautions to avoid them. Staying alert while driving, obeying speed limits, and ensuring that all passengers are properly secured are key measures to reduce the risk of accidents.
