Cyclists Struck in Serious Highway 9 Accident

Felton, California – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) of Santa Cruz is currently investigating a traffic incident that has left four cyclists seriously injured.

The incident occurred around 6:21 p.m. on Highway 9, specifically at the intersection with Glengarry Road, in Felton. According to CHP reports, four cyclists were struck by a vehicle, resulting in significant injuries to all involved.

An 85-year-old woman was driving a blue Kia Forte northbound on Highway 9 at the time of the accident. Meanwhile, the four cyclists were traveling southbound on the east shoulder of the highway. Under circumstances yet to be determined, the vehicle veered out of its lane and collided with the cyclists, causing the incident.

Subsequently, the Kia continued eastbound until it came to a stop after colliding with a tree. The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for medical attention.

Two of the cyclists involved in the accident sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to the hospital via ambulance helicopter. The other two cyclists also suffered injuries and were transported to the medical center by ambulance.

Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact causes of the accident. At this time, there is no suspicion of drugs or alcohol being involved in the incident.
