28-Year-Old Man Dies in Accident on Highway 1

Santa Barbara County, California – The California Highway Patrol has identified the deceased individual in a tragic accident that occurred Wednesday afternoon on Highway 1 near Black Road as a 28-year-old man from Santa Maria.

According to reports provided by the CHP, physical evidence indicates that the Santa Maria man was traveling northbound on Highway 1 in a 2010 Ford.

Tragically, his vehicle initially collided with a parked harvest trailer on the east shoulder of the roadway. He then continued northbound and collided with another harvest trailer that also stopped in the area.

In the second impact, the man’s car became trapped underneath the trailer, leaving the driver trapped inside and causing fatal injuries. Emergency services arrived at the scene while the vehicle was still pinned under the trailer. Sadly, medical efforts were in vain.

California Highway Patrol authorities have stated that the incident is being thoroughly investigated. At this time, the presence of substances in the driver’s system has not been confirmed. However, the investigation is ongoing to determine the exact causes that led to this tragic accident on Highway 1 near Black Road.
