Young Skater Fights for Life after Tragic Accident in Linda Vista

San Diego, California – A dramatic collision with a car in San Diego has changed the life of an 18-year-old skater. The victim, whose identity remains anonymous, faced an unexpected reality as he grappled with severe injuries resulting from a collision with a vehicle last Tuesday.

The skater, crossing at a red light, suffered a skull fracture and a brain hemorrhage in an accident that occurred at 7:17 p.m., according to reports from the San Diego Police Department.

The accident took place at the intersection of Osler Street and Genesee Avenue. While moving east on Osler Street, the young skater was hit by a Chrysler Pacifica driven by a 45-year-old man heading south on Genesee Avenue.

The initial impact threw the young skater into a Nissan Altima, driven by a 25-year-old man, which was stopped at the red turn arrow in a northbound turn lane. The final position of the skater was south of the Nissan, in the northbound lane.

Mason Spears, a close friend of the victim, shared his thoughts at the skate park on Wednesday. “He used to come here every other day. He was very talented and passionate about skateboarding,” he said.

Despite the accident’s severity, the driver of the Chrysler Pacifica and the Nissan Altima remained at the scene. As of now, neither of them has been cited or faces charges related to this unfortunate incident.

Traffic Division officers promptly responded to the scene and are conducting a thorough investigation to clarify the details of this shocking collision.

This tragic accident in Linda Vista is a grim reminder of the inherent risks at the intersection of the skateboarding world and the reality of the streets. We hope for a swift recovery for the victim.
