Authorities have identified Cameron Patterson, an 18-year-old teenager, as the person who drowned in a terrible car accident in Fresno after the car he was traveling in swerved and fell into the Friant-Kern canal.
The accident occurred Wednesday afternoon when he and three friends were speeding along Herndon Avenue and Madsen Road. The 18-year-old driver, Marcos Zuñiga II, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the Friant-Kern canal.
At 6:15 pm, all four occupants of the vehicle were suspended in the canal, struggling for their lives. Three of the teenagers managed to escape and surface, but their friend Patterson went missing.
Unfortunately, Cameron Patterson was trapped in the vehicle, and it wasn’t until the rescue team removed the car from the canal that they found his body. Two of the victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Drugs or alcohol do not appear to have been involved in the car accident in Fresno, and the investigation is ongoing. Patterson was declared dead at the scene, and his family has been notified of the incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
