Yuba City, California — Seven children were transported to the hospital following a school bus crash Tuesday morning in Yuba City, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The collision occurred shortly before 8 a.m. at the intersection of South Walton Avenue and Cherry Street. Authorities reported that three vehicles were involved in the incident. A gray sedan traveling northbound was stopped while waiting to make a left turn onto Cherry Street.
A gray SUV behind the sedan came to a halt, but a school bus following the SUV could not stop in time, resulting in a rear-end collision. The impact pushed the SUV into the stationary sedan.
The CHP confirmed that seven students on the bus were taken to the hospital, either with minor injuries or as a precautionary measure. The three individuals inside the SUV were unharmed, and no occupants of the sedan required medical attention.
By 9:30 a.m., the roadway had reopened, and the crash site had been cleared.
Incidents like this underscore the importance of vigilance in school transportation safety. We extend our heartfelt wishes for a swift recovery to the injured children.
