On Wednesday afternoon, around 4 p.m., California State Parks dispatchers received a distress call reporting an accident in the boating area just north of Alessandro Island. This distress call triggered an immediate response from rescue teams, who swiftly mobilized to the incident location.
According to the report provided by the caller, a man was enjoying a tubing ride behind his boat when, tragically, he fell into the water and was unable to return to the tube. The situation became even more distressing when another man, a passenger on the boat, jumped into the water in a brave attempt to rescue his companion on the tube. However, the current and adverse circumstances complicated the situation, and both men found themselves in distress in the middle of the lake.
Both men went underwater and did not resurface. State Parks authorities reported that the men were not wearing life jackets at the time of the accident, which exacerbated the situation. At this point, they are presumed to be missing underwater, prompting an intensive search and rescue operation.
