Santa Clara County, California – The Mountain View Police are currently investigating a tragic pedestrian incident that occurred in the parking lot of Walmart, claiming the life of a woman in the early hours of Monday, December 4, 2023.
Around 6 a.m. on Monday, authorities received alerts about a pedestrian collision in the 500 block of Showers Drive, specifically in the Walmart parking lot. Officers who arrived at the scene determined that a woman, approximately 60 years old, was in the center of the parking lot when she was struck by an employee on his way to work.
At the time of the fatal Walmart parking lot accident, the area was shrouded in darkness and enveloped in dense fog, creating challenging visibility conditions.
The injured woman was immediately transported to a local hospital, where she unfortunately succumbed to the serious injuries sustained. It is relevant to note that, according to authorities, there is no suspicion of drug or alcohol influence in the collision.
The involved driver remained at the scene of the accident and fully cooperated with the police investigation. As part of the process, the parking lot remained closed while officers processed the scene, a measure that extended into the afternoon of Monday.
