(Los Angeles, CA) A driver fled the scene after hitting and killing a man pushing a shopping cart early Friday morning, according to Los Angeles authorities.
The accident occurred around 1 a.m. on Hubbard Street and Adelphia Avenue, one block away from Foothill Boulevard when the victim, identified as a man in his 40s, was struck by a black Honda Civic.
Witnesses of the accident reported seeing a woman in her 20s driving the vehicle and said the driver stopped, got back into the car, and left the scene of the accident. The victim was taken to the hospital at the time of the accident report but did not survive.
Authorities are searching for the driver responsible for the hit-and-run accident in Sylmar, and urge anyone with relevant information to come forward immediately.
It is the responsibility of all drivers to exercise caution while driving, as well as to follow traffic rules and regulations, to prevent these kinds of fatal accidents. The actions of this driver are a sad reminder of the lack of empathy and compassion of some individuals, and such atrocious acts should be punished.
