Drunk Driver Crash in Yuba City: 1 Dead and 2 Injured

Yuba City, California – An almost head-on collision in Yuba City resulted in the death of one person and two injuries, highlighting the dangerous presence of driving under the influence of alcohol.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on the busy highways 99 and 20. Authorities responded to an urgent call about an overturned car in the area. Upon arrival, they found a BMW driven by 46-year-old James Terry, with passenger Shawna Loyd, also 46. Additionally, a Honda driven by 19-year-old Malyanh Soulinthone lay in the ditch, revealing the severity of the impact.

Unfortunately, Malyanh Soulinthone was declared dead at the scene. Authorities, after a thorough inspection, suggest the presence of alcohol in Soulinthone’s car at the time of the crash, highlighting the possible circumstances that led to this tragedy.

The investigation revealed that the BMW was traveling north on Highway 99 at a speed of approximately 50 mph. In contrast, the Honda was traveling south at an unknown speed, possibly without lights on, before dangerously crossing into oncoming traffic. The impact occurred on the passenger side of the Honda, launching it off the road to the east.

James Terry and Shawna Loyd were transported to the hospital with minor injuries and fortunately were discharged the same night. Their lives, though affected by this tragic event, have avoided an even more devastating outcome.

At this time, information available about this drunk driver crash in Yuba City is limited. Authorities continue to investigate to gain a more complete understanding of the events leading to this accident.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victim.
