(Sacramento, CA) A man died after colliding with a truck in an active construction zone on Highway 50 in Sacramento on Wednesday morning.
Around 2:00 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers responded to a report of an accident on the westbound side of the highway near 51st Street to investigate. At the scene, authorities discovered a terrible crash involving an SUV and a one-ton truck.
The truck was towing a trailer with an activated arrow board, and two employees were inside the vehicle.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the SUV crashed into the arrow truck and then collided with the other truck. Unfortunately, the driver was not wearing a seatbelt, and the consequences were fatal.
The other two individuals in the truck escaped unharmed. The westbound lanes of Highway 50 remained blocked for several hours this morning but have since been reopened.
It is currently unknown whether alcohol or drugs were significant factors in this accident. The victim has been identified as a 55-year-old man from Sacramento. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the deceased.
