Driver Dies in Horrific Traffic Accident in Rialto

Rialto, California – Police in Rialto are currently investigating a tragic accident in which a driver lost his life after a pickup truck crashed into a railing and then collided head-on with his vehicle.

The fateful incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday in the 4000 block of South Riverside Avenue. According to reports from the Rialto Police Department, officers responded to a call about a crash involving two vehicles with injured persons. Upon arrival, they found Gregory McDonald, 57, a resident of Moreno Valley, inside his Toyota Echo, suffering from serious injuries.

Unfortunately, McDonald was pronounced dead at the scene by Colton Fire Department paramedics shortly after their arrival.

The other vehicle involved was identified as a Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by 27-year-old Marcus Fiorillo from Banning. Fortunately, Fiorillo emerged uninjured from the accident.

Investigators have determined that Fiorillo was traveling north on Riverside Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle, first hitting the east railing and then veering into oncoming traffic. The truck ultimately collided head-on with McDonald’s compact car.

Although the investigation is still ongoing, law enforcement authorities have stated that there is evidence suggesting Fiorillo may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Fiorillo was arrested at the scene of the accident and subsequently booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. On March 25, 2024, he appeared before a San Bernardino County court, where he was charged with second-degree murder and reckless vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He is currently in custody without bail.
