California DUI Accident: Tesla Hits Girl Scout Cookie Stand, Injures 3

Two girls and a woman were hurt after a Tesla crashed into them, according to officials.

California Highway Patrol Auburn says the crash happened at the entrance of the Walmart on Douglas and Sierra College boulevards just before 4 p.m. Saturday while they were at a Girl Scout stand outside the building.  The two minors, ages 9 and 10, had moderate injuries and a 76-year-old woman had major injuries, according to officials. All three were taken to the hospital.

The driver of the Tesla, identified as 69-year-old Gary L. Benson of Cameron Park, was arrested on the scene for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to officials.

Law enforcement officers also said that he will be detained in the Placer County Jail for committing felony charges of driving while intoxicated, resulting in injury.

Three innocent people were injured in a horrific drunk-driving accident in California. On Saturday afternoon, two girls — aged 9 and 10 — and a 76-year-old woman were standing outside the entrance of a Walmart in Auburn when a 69-year-old driver by the name of Gary L. Benson of Cameron Park, crashed his Tesla into them. The girls had moderate injuries while the woman suffered major ones and all three were taken to the hospital immediately.

The driver, who was found to be under the influence of alcohol, was arrested by California Highway Patrol Auburn at the scene of the accident. He will now face felony charges for driving under the influence causing injury and will likely be booked into Placer County Jail.
