Bay Point Resident Dies in Wet Road Accident

Contra Costa County, California – In a tragic incident, a Bay Point resident lost his life on Sunday, January 21, 2024, when he failed to navigate a curve on a wet road north of Highway 4, near Martinez.

According to a report from the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office, the victim was identified as 30-year-old Jonathan Ojeda.

The unfortunate incident took place around 11 a.m. as Ojeda was driving near the intersection of Franklin Canyon Road and Wolcott Lane. He was operating a Can-Am utility vehicle, similar to an ATV, which veered off the road and collided with a metal mesh fence.

Initial reports suggested that the vehicle had overturned. Unfortunately, Ojeda was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two passengers on board escaped unharmed.
