Antioch, California – A 19-year-old resident of Antioch lost his life in a two-vehicle accident on the northbound I-5 highway near Hood.
The unfortunate incident occurred around 9:15 on Saturday, December 2, 2023, on I-5N, south of Hood Franklin Road, according to a collision report from the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The initial CHP investigation reveals that the 19-year-old, driving an Infiniti, was traveling at high speed when they collided with the rear of a Ford truck.

The impact caused the truck to be pushed onto the shoulder, while the Infiniti hit the center barrier, overturned, and ejected the driver.
Tragically, the young driver lost his life due to injuries sustained in the accident, and the passenger was seriously injured.
Fortunately, the driver of the Ford truck did not suffer injuries in the incident.
Although the CHP has not determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in this tragic I-5 highway crash, it is expected that the investigation will provide answers in the coming days. So far, the Infiniti driver has not been identified.
