Orange County, California – Two pursuits in Orange County initiated by the Sheriff’s Department ended in crashes on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, leaving two innocent drivers hospitalized, according to official sources.
The first pursuit was triggered after the Sheriff’s Department received an alert about individuals graffitiing at around 2:20 p.m. at a building located at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Cerritos Avenue in Stanton, said Sergeant Frank Gonzalez, a department spokesperson.
As officers approached to question the suspects, they boarded a vehicle and fled, causing a collision with two other vehicles driven by innocent bystanders at the intersection of Brookhurst Street and West Broadway in Anaheim. Both drivers suffered minor injuries and were transported to the hospital for medical attention.
Following the pursuit, four suspects, including three minors, were apprehended. According to initial investigations, the vehicle used had been stolen.
The second pursuit began around 2 p.m. in San Juan Capistrano after a driver committed a traffic violation, Gonzalez detailed. Although the exact nature of the violation was not specified, the incident led to a pursuit that extended to Aliso Viejo.
The pursuit ended when the suspect’s vehicle first collided with another car and then crashed into a wall at the intersection of Aliso Creek Road and Autumnglen.
Following the crash, one individual was arrested at the scene, while another was apprehended shortly after, following a brief foot pursuit. At this time, there is no information available regarding the charges filed against the detained suspects.
