Fatal Fuel Tanker Accident in Los Angeles Shuts Down Freeway

Los Angeles, California – A tragic accident in Los Angeles on Saturday night claimed one life and injured two others following a fuel tanker collision on the 110 Freeway. The crash occurred just before 10 p.m. on the northbound lanes between Manchester Avenue and Century Boulevard, shutting down the freeway in South L.A. for over 14 hours.

Approximately 100 gallons of jet fuel spilled from the overturned tanker, which came to rest on top of a black sedan. Witnesses reported seeing the tanker swerve suddenly before the collision.

The sedan driver was killed instantly, while two other victims—a 30-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man—sustained minor injuries. After reaching the hospital, the tanker driver survived but had no further contact with authorities.

Firefighters, in full protective gear due to the fuel’s high flammability, worked through the night to contain the spill. While southbound lanes reopened by 7 a.m. Sunday, northbound lanes and connector ramps remained closed until just after 12:20 p.m.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of this accident in Los Angeles. Our hearts go out to those impacted by this tragedy, especially the loved ones of the deceased.
