California — Stanley, a popular drinkware brand, has recalled over 2.5 million travel mugs due to potential burn hazards, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The recall, announced Thursday, affects the Stanley Switchback and Trigger Action stainless steel travel mugs. The lids were found to loosen when exposed to heat or torque, creating a risk of burns from spilled hot liquids.
The recalled Stanley travel mugs, available in sizes ranging from 12 to 20 ounces and sold in various colors such as black, white, and green, were priced between $20 and $50. Retailers like Amazon, Target, Walmart, and Dick’s Sporting Goods carried the products.
Stanley has received 91 global reports of lid detachment, including 38 incidents of burn injuries, 11 of which required medical attention. Sixteen complaints and two injuries occurred in the United States.
The CPSC advises consumers to stop using the affected travel mugs immediately and contact Stanley for a free replacement lid. For additional information, visit the Consumer Product Safety Commission website.
