Oakland, California – At least 16 people sustained injuries in a shocking bus and two vehicles collision in Oakland. An AC Transit bus was involved in an accident when a speeding car struck it, diverting its path.
The AC Transit bus was traveling northbound on International Boulevard at 54th Avenue when the collision occurred. According to transit spokesperson Robert Lyles, twelve people were on board, including the driver. The impact involved three vehicles in total: the bus, a Chrysler 300 sedan, and a Toyota Prius.
At least 16 people were reported injured as a result of the accident. Recent updates indicate that two of the injured are in critical condition. In addition to the bus passengers, the drivers of the Chrysler 300 and the Toyota Prius were also injured.
The Chrysler 300 was traveling southbound on International Boulevard at an unspecified speed. In an attempt to turn left onto 54th Avenue, it collided with the Toyota Prius. This impact caused the Chrysler to lose control, crossing a raised center divider and entering the dedicated bus lane, where it collided with the AC Transit bus.
The accident scene witnessed a significant emergency response from firefighters and police.
