The Seal Beach Police Department initiated a pursuit of a reckless driver, which resulted in the collision of nine vehicles and the death of one person. The crash occurred at 8:07 p.m. at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and east of 2nd Street.

Officers on the scene used a taser to stop the fleeing culprit. The suspect was identified as 39-year-old Chaz Lamar Long, a resident of Antioch, and authorities indicate that he was wanted on a federal no-bail warrant for a firearms violation.
