Fresno, California – In tragic news for the Fresno community, a man was found dead in what appears to be a motorcycle accident at the Fresno Freeway Interchange, announced the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred just before 7 in the morning last Thursday when officers received the report of a person lying in the center divider near the interchange of Highways 180 and 41. Officer Mike Salas of the Highway Patrol reported this unfortunate discovery.
After the discovery, the motorcyclist was quickly transported to the Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. However, hopes faded when hospital staff pronounced him deceased, as reported by the CHP. According to a statement from the officers, it is believed that the motorcyclist was heading west on Highway 180, entering the elevated area that becomes Highway 41 heading south. At some point, he collided with the center divider, causing the motorcycle and the rider to go over the wall and fall down the embankment of Highway 180, according to Officer Salas’ explanation.
The preliminary stages of the investigation are still ongoing. It is currently unclear whether drug or alcohol consumption was a contributing factor to the fatal accident. Authorities are working to obtain answers and understand what happened on that day.
