Temple City, California – On Saturday afternoon, August 17, 2024, a mother and her 10-year-old daughter lost their lives in a devastating DUI accident in Temple City. The crash occurred around 1:00 p.m. in the 4400 block when a Toyota Scion xB attempted to make a northward turn, struck a curb, and veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with a Honda CR-V.
Emergency responders declared the mother and daughter deceased at the scene. Authorities have not yet released their identities. The woman’s husband, who was also in the vehicle, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and was subsequently hospitalized.
The driver of the Toyota Scion xB, suspected of driving under the influence, was taken into custody on charges including DUI causing injury, reckless driving, and operating a vehicle with a suspended license following a previous DUI conviction. The suspect sustained significant injuries and underwent surgery on August 19. A passenger in the Toyota also suffered injuries in the crash.
The California accident remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
