Possible DUI Crash in Southern California Kills Grandmother

Upland, CA – A tragedy suspected to involve a possible DUI crash in Southern California, has left a family devastated after 83-year-old Barbara Taylor of Rancho Cucamonga was killed and her granddaughter critically injured. The accident occurred Wednesday afternoon at Euclid Avenue and 15th Street.

Around 4 p.m., Taylor was driving with her adult granddaughter as they approached a stop sign at the intersection. They attempted to cross the road after stopping and determining it was safe to proceed. Tragically, before they could reach the other side, a speeding vehicle struck them.

Witness Robert Velto, who saw the accident unfold, described the harrowing moment: “I saw this gray car coming down; it was a blur. The car was going excessively fast.” Velto tried to help the victims but found the doors of their vehicle jammed due to the severity of the impact.

Emergency crews arrived quickly and used hydraulic rescue tools to extricate the victims from the wreckage. Both were rushed to a nearby trauma center, where Taylor sadly succumbed to her injuries. Her granddaughter remains in critical condition.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences that can arise from reckless driving. Our deepest condolences go out to the Taylor family and all those affected by this tragedy. We hope for the granddaughter’s recovery and that justice is served in this case.

Stay vigilant and always drive responsibly to prevent such senseless loss.
