One Dead, Four Injured in Head-On Crash Near Riverbank

Riverbank, California — A head-on crash near Riverbank on Sunday evening left one person dead and four others hospitalized, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The accident occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Highway 108, west of Snedigar Road. CHP reports indicate that a 47-year-old Modesto man driving a Ford van crossed double yellow lines, colliding head-on with a 2024 GMC pickup. The reason for the van driver’s lane crossing remains unclear.

The driver of the Ford van was pronounced dead at the scene. The GMC driver and her three passengers sustained injuries of varying severity, from severe to minor, and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Although all individuals involved were wearing seatbelts, CHP has not confirmed if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
