What California Law May Consider After a Serious Truck Crash
After a fatal or severe collision, investigators may examine how the crash occurred, whether traffic laws were violated, and whether one or more parties contributed to the incident.
For victims and families affected by a semi-truck crash, potential claims may depend on evidence showing negligence and the resulting losses. Important factors may include:
- Police and collision reports
- Vehicle and roadway evidence
- Witness statements or video footage
- Driver’s conduct before the crash
- Commercial trucking records
- Available insurance coverage
When a collision results in death, California Code of Civil Procedure § 377.60 identifies certain family members and other eligible parties who may bring a wrongful death action.
