Santa Clara County, California — A San Jose pedestrian accident on Highway 85 left a woman dead after two vehicles struck her early Thursday morning. The fatal collision occurred south of Camden Avenue and remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

At about 1:37 a.m. on August 6, California Highway Patrol officers responded to southbound Highway 85, also known as the West Valley Freeway, south of Camden Avenue.
Investigators said a woman walking in the freeway lanes was first struck by a Honda Civic in the middle-right lane. She came to rest in the roadway and was subsequently hit by a Honda HR-V. Medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.
Both motorists reportedly stopped and contacted emergency services. Authorities said neither driver was suspected of impairment. CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the San Jose pedestrian accident.
