California Laws and Injury Claims After Multi-Vehicle Collisions

The multi-vehicle crash in Fresno County highlights how intersection violations can lead to serious injuries affecting multiple drivers. California law sets out several considerations when determining liability and pursuing compensation.

  • Stop sign violations: California Vehicle Code § 22450 requires motorists to stop at designated intersections.
  • Determining fault: Investigators may review police reports, vehicle damage, witness accounts, and other evidence to establish responsibility.
  • Recoverable damages: Injured individuals may seek compensation for medical expenses, lost income, rehabilitation costs, and pain and suffering.
  • Filing deadlines: Under California Code of Civil Procedure § 335.1, most personal injury lawsuits must be filed within two years, although exceptions may apply.

Liability depends on the circumstances and available evidence.
