A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday on U.S. Highway 101 near Morgan Hill, claiming the life of a 36-year-old Riverside man. The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, lost his life after being struck by a freight truck while on the highway shoulder.
The heartbreaking event took place around 12:30 pm on August 9th in the southbound lane of Highway 101, specifically south of San Martin Avenue. The man was in the process of securing something to his vehicle on the side of the highway when fate took a somber turn.
For reasons yet to be determined, the freight truck veered off its normal course and collided with the man on the shoulder. The force of the impact proved fatal, leaving the man with injuries that tragically proved mortal. Despite being promptly transported to a hospital, his efforts to survive were in vain, and he succumbed to his injuries.
The California Highway Patrol has stated that, thus far, there are no indications to suggest that alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision with the freight truck on Highway 101. This points towards the possibility that the tragic event could have been a combination of unfortunate circumstances.
