Man Dies in Flames in Fatal Accident in Modesto

(Modesto, CA) One person died in a car accident that ended in flames. The other occupant was able to exit the vehicle before it caught fire.

The California Highway Patrol reported a terrible accident Friday morning around 1:15 a.m. on the southbound L Street off-ramp of Highway 99.

Upon arrival, the investigative unit found a Toyota sedan that had rolled over and sustained fire damage. The car was on its right side against a tree. Authorities attempted to extinguish the fire to rescue the passenger still in the vehicle, but it was too late.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle on the L Street off-ramp. The car continued down the ramp before colliding with a tree and catching fire.

One of the vehicle occupants was able to exit with moderate injuries before the vehicle caught fire, but the other occupant was trapped. The surviving victim was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for medical treatment.

Investigations suggest that neither occupant was wearing their seat belt during the accident. It is currently unknown if alcohol or drugs were significant factors in this fatal accident in Modesto.
