Four Injured as Plane Crashed at the Pomona Fairgrounds

Pomona, California — Four individuals sustained injuries when a small single-engine plane crashed at the Pomona Fairgrounds on Sunday morning. The crash, which occurred near the drag strip at the Fairplex, was reported to the Los Angeles County Fire Department at 11:10 a.m.

According to officials, the aircraft struck multiple vehicles, including an RV, before impacting the ground close to the grandstand during the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Drag Racing Finals. The ongoing races were temporarily halted as emergency responders addressed the incident.

The plane’s proximity to Brackett Field Airport has raised questions about whether it was departing from or approaching the airport. However, this detail remains unclear. LA County Fire personnel stationed at the event could provide immediate assistance.

Jonathan Torres of LA County Fire explained that the crash occurred in real-time, prompting the team to respond immediately and aid the victims at the scene.

All four individuals aboard the aircraft—one pilot and three passengers—were transported to a nearby hospital. Two sustained moderate injuries, while two others suffered minor injuries. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among spectators or ground personnel.

Emergency crews acted swiftly to contain leaking fuel, preventing potential fires from spreading to nearby vehicles and equipment.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are conducting a joint investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

This incident is a reminder of the unforeseen risks involved in aviation. Our thoughts go out to those injured, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.
