Driver, Passenger Escape Severe Crash in Newport Beach

Newport Beach, California — Early Sunday morning, a single-vehicle crash in Newport Beach left parts of an SUV scattered across Jamboree Road and nearby properties. Remarkably, officials reported that both the driver and passenger escaped serious harm.

The incident occurred near the Palisades Tennis Club around 1 a.m. Emergency responders found the two occupants seated on a curb after they had self-extricated from the wreckage, according to the Newport Beach Fire Department. Both were transported to a hospital in stable condition.

Preliminary findings revealed the SUV collided with two light poles and a tree before stopping in the southbound lanes. The impact dislodged the vehicle’s engine, which was found 20 feet away and extinguished by firefighters. One of the front tires landed inside the tennis club property.

In a statement, officials noted an increase in traffic incidents during the holiday season and urged drivers to remain cautious. They emphasized the need to slow down, stay focused, and drive responsibly.

This incident highlights the importance of road safety and the unpredictable nature of such events. The outcome, while fortunate, serves as a reminder to exercise vigilance while driving, especially during busy seasons.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
