Dog Causes Near-Fatal Crash at Auburn Dollar Tree Store

(AUBURN, CA) A dog caused a near-fatal crash at a Dollar Tree store in Auburn on Tuesday afternoon when it jumped at its owner’s feet, causing her to crash her car into the store.

According to the information posted on Cal Fire NEU’s official Facebook page, the incident occurred at the Dollar Tree store on New Airport Road north of Auburn. The dog’s sudden jump startled the driver, leading to an acceleration that caused the vehicle to rapidly move forward and crash into the store.

Fortunately, a shopper inside the store had enough time to move, as they would have been fatally struck by the vehicle otherwise, authorities commented.

The condition of the driver is currently unknown. Although not directly hit by the car, the impact of the fall while attempting to save their lives resulted in serious injuries.

Authorities responded to the scene to assist both the driver and the animal, and the shopper was transported to the hospital for treatment. We wish the victim a speedy recovery.
