Los Angeles, California — A fatal collision on the northbound 110 Freeway early Sunday morning claimed the life of a 23-year-old man, authorities said. The crash occurred near Manchester Avenue around 5 a.m.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident involved a black sedan and a gray cargo van in the express lanes. During the aftermath, an out-of-service Metro bus struck the victim, who had been ejected from one of the vehicles.
Metro Los Angeles spokesperson Jose Ubaldo confirmed that around 5:10 a.m., an out-of-service Metro bus Line 210 struck a body that had been ejected from an earlier, non-Metro vehicle accident. He also expressed Metro’s condolences, extending heartfelt sympathies to the victim’s family and friends.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Giovanni Hernandez Santiago. His city of residence was not disclosed.
A Sigalert was issued at 5:33 a.m., closing all northbound lanes for approximately two hours before reopening.
